On 23 July 2025, headspace Launceston’s youth-led peer group, Social Impact Connection (SIC) Space, will celebrate its one-year anniversary of running weekly youth-focused activities in partnership with the Launceston Library.

In consultation with the headspace Youth Reference Group, SIC Space has been running activities every Tuesday afternoon during school terms from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Over the past year, the group has grown into a vibrant space for creativity, connection, and community, allowing young people to make new friends and socialise in a safe, inclusive environment.
What began with 4 young people attending the first session, the group has grown each week with activities including short film screenings and discussions, origami sessions, video and board game tournaments, a creative workshop lead by the UTAS Nature Connection Project, and even a Book Week-themed scavenger hunt throughout the library.

By the end of 2024, it was clear the that SIC Space had become a vital part of the week for many young attendees, with new friendships forming and SIC Space becoming a regular part of their routine. The headspace Launceston Youth Reference Group is excited to see the group grow even more in the next year, with the aim to work on bigger projects within the group.
As a way of celebrating this milestone, SIC Space will welcome young people back to Term 3 on the 22nd July with a special celebration of some of the most popular activities from the last year with a SIC Space 1st Birthday Party (watch this space for details)!
